I was there few years earlier and it took a bit of time to deal with my Spyway experiences. I still remember being told "You are the sons of gentlemen who are are going to grow up to be men" and finding it a somewhat ridiculous statement.
I was there at the same time as James and I have to say I loved my time at Spyway. I think the author has embellished a lot and made it sound worse than it was. Never a favourite of either Mr. Eric (beaten twice) or Mr Geoffrey (weekly tears on Friday) and loved the roaming freedom across the Purbeck Hills particularly on Sunday afternoons. Finally a spoonful of Mr Geoffrey’s honey before we went out to stuff the Old Malt House Rugby team.
